1. Good News: Where the Intel is Good

  1. Anthony Fauci's top advisor pleaded guilty in a Covid cover-up case. This is the opening we needed to start putting people in jail for this particular crime spree that destroyed thousands of churches, millions of businesses, and hundreds of millions of lives.

  2. Heroic 16 year old lifeguard: https://www.yahoo.com/news/us/articles/heroic-16-old-lifeguard-saved-164721500.html

  3. Bad news for communists, good news for people who believe in democracy: SCOTUS has granted a stay against the election-fraud-maintaining orders from communist state judges barring the Executive from directing federal agencies to assist states with citizenship verification. That same order directs federal agencies to establish new standards for mail-in ballots moving through the U.S. Postal Service. Of course, the three commie judges dissented ("We just cannot have a democratic process, no, that simply won't do....").

  4. By now, you have no doubt read about the massive oil deal with Venezuela. This will boost their economy dramatically, while also bringing down the cost of gas at the pump in the USA. Just in time for the elections, too. This is bad news for the Communist Party and its propaganda outlets such as the New York Slimes; these retards have been yammering about "Trump's endless war in Iran" and how it has allegedly made life unaffordable due to the cost of gasoline at the pump. They were oddly silent when gasoline prices were significantly higher than this during the Communist Occupation. As for "affordability," they keep defending the Unaffordable Care Act.

  5. Yet again, the jobs report blew away all expectations. 162,000 new jobs in August versus the 56,000 predicted--that is 3X!

  6. This entire year, the job predictions have been less or significantly less than the actual results. The experts are using a standard model, and their model assumes a standard economy. That is also why during the Brainless years the predictions were significantly greater than the actual results. The economic reality for middle class Americans during the Trump 2.0 era is a massive change from the massive inflation, massive layoffs, and massive bankruptcies that characterized the Brainless administration.

  7. Also consider that these are real jobs related to wealth production, not excess government jobs created for no reason. In fact, the proportion of jobs that are government jobs has shrunk to an all-time low. That shrinkage is due to several factors, including the fact that technology can replace many "workers"--same as in the private sector. While communists and other mentally-challenged people see this as some kind of net loss, what happens in reality is (same as in the private sector) you get rid of the dross and keep the cream. Which means an agency isn't larded down with the weight of useless jobs and can focus on its mission instead of on useless reports, useless meetings, and useless activity.
    Grow out of it!

The US Federal Debt recently surpassed $40 trillion. Secretary Bessent said we can grow our way out of that. I disagree, based on the fact we are running a $2 trillion deficit each year.

We will have to keep doing the dozens of things President Trump has done to grow the economy; it's a long list of very smart things that are working. But we will also need to do some belt-tightening:
    • Keep eliminating waste, fraud, and corruption.
    • Reduce federal spending. The juiciest target is our "defense" budget. Which keeps growing and which dwarfs that of any other nation and most other nations combined.
    • Reduce government spending at the state, county, and municipal levels.
We will also need to import young (under 35) professionals and tradespeople, fast-tracking them to citizenship. If you look at our demographics, you will see Generations Z, Alpha, and Beta are barely having any babies; that means a collapse of Ponzi-like systems such as Medicare and Social Security. They aren't Ponzi schemes, but they do rely on income from the workforce to keep them going. A smaller and/or less well-paid workforce means reduced taxes into those programs, thus the emphasis must be on skilled workers and others capable of earning a high salary. However, not all immigrants need to be in this category. If they can fill decent-paying jobs of people who graduate into the building trades (which now pay really well), the overall effect will be positive.

It's much more complicated than "we will grow our way out of this." Growth is only part of the solution. The communists invoked economic shrinkage, while also abetting waste, fraud, and corruption. On top of this, they imposed multiple layers of stupidity (DEI, Green New Scam, etc.). We will stand no chance of making any progress on debt reduction if the communists are able to seize power again.

    3. Brainpower tip

Reframing a problem can remove the barriers to solving it. Here is an example.

I was Plant Engineer at a big, three-shift manufacturing plant. There were 63 people under me. Two were engineers, all of the other engineers reported to, as I did, the Plant Engineering Director. Among the operators and maintenance people, there was a safety compliance problem: hardly anyone wore their safety glasses. The Safety Director framed this as an enforcement problem. I reframed it as a respect problem.

On each shift, I called in all the maintenance people into the plant floor's main breakroom. I asked for a show of hands of anyone who was stupid or incompetent. Not a single hand went up. I said, "That's exactly what I thought. Not a single dummy in this room. I need some help solving a problem." I then told them we'd go round robin with each person answering the same question. Yes, I am an SOB. But I am an equal opportunity SOB.
Now I had let Roger in on the game I would play, so I called on him first (nobody else knew). "Roger, let's start with you. Now you know about my bum eye, I think all of ya'll in this room know. An eye can easily be injured. What if you lost both eyes, how would you feed your family?"

Roger said, "I would not be able to do what I have been trained to do, so I would not be able to feed my family if I lost my eyesight. But I don't know why you're asking me because I never take my safety glasses off once I am in the plant. Not even in the break room." I had a similar "plant" on each shift, giving the first answer so that others would get the point. Not coming from me, coming from their peer. Very powerful that way.

A few days after this, I got called into a meeting in the Plant Manager's office. The Safety Director and the other managers wanted to know why Maintenance suddenly has 100% compliance and the rest of the plant is under 10%. My reply was I solved a respect problem. These are smart people, you just need to make them responsible for something that's important to them.

Let's say you enter a social situation and feel ill at ease. You could frame this as being about you. Or you could reframe it as being about anyone else who might feel the same way. Using the second framing, you crack a joke or say something pleasant to put another person at ease. This is positive energy, the first framing will involve only negative energy and it will fail.

    4. Finance tip

Let's look at how a slightly higher investment upfront saves huge bucks later: Oil and filter.

    Oil

If you buy a new car, swapping factory oil out early (after 500 miles) for full synthetic is one of the single best things you can do for long-term engine health. If you are still using "conventional" oil, change oil at your earliest possible convenience and replace it with full synthetic. Even if you just had an oil change.

The build-up conventional mineral oils leave behind—especially older paraffin-base crude stocks—is notorious. At operating temperatures, those heavier wax chains oxidize, break down, and form varnish and sludge throughout the engine passages, ring lands, and valve train. That added internal friction degrades fuel economy, forces the oil pump to work harder, and shortens engine life.

Full synthetics (Group III/IV basestocks) eliminate those wax molecules entirely:

    • Uniform Molecular Structure: Synthetics maintain a consistent, tailored molecular size that resists thermal breakdown and shear far better under heat.

    • Lower Viscous Drag: Reduced internal friction translates directly into better fuel efficiency and less parasitic loss at highway cruising speeds.

    • Superior Cold Flow: Rapid oil pressure on startup means significantly less wear during those initial critical seconds.

When people try to save a few dollars on conventional oil, they end up paying for it multiple times over in lost fuel economy, shorter drain intervals, and eventual mechanical wear. Transitioning to full synthetic right after the initial engine break-in is why the cars of people who do this run like new even after 200,000 miles.

Then there's cold weather starting wear. That initial dry moment during a cold winter startup is where the vast majority of engine wear actually happens over a vehicle's lifespan.

When conventional paraffinic oils get cold, those straight-chain paraffin wax molecules begin to crystallize and stack together (a process called wax gelling). At freezing temperatures, that wax acts like cold syrup—it thickens up dramatically, resists the oil pump, and delays the time it takes for oil pressure to build across the entire engine block.

During those first few seconds after a cold start:

    • Startup Starvation: The oil pump cavitates trying to pull thick, gelled oil out of the pan.

    • Boundary Lubrication: As you noted, the crankshaft journals, rod bearings, and cam lobes are relying purely on whatever microscopic residual film was left behind when the engine was shut off.

    • Hydrodynamic Protection: Real wear protection requires hydrodynamic lubrication—a pressurized liquid wedge of oil separating moving metal parts. Heavy paraffin oils delay that wedge from forming.

Full synthetic basestocks (like PAOs and hydrocracked Group III synthetics) contain zero paraffin wax. Their pour point—the lowest temperature at which the liquid will still pour—is drastically lower (often down to -40°F or -50°F).

Here's a critical insight into fluid dynamics and oil pump mechanics.

When paraffin-based mineral oil gels up in freezing temperatures, its kinematic viscosity spikes exponentially—far beyond its nominal high-temp rating. A cold, wax-laden oil can easily hit an effective viscosity of 100W or higher at sub-zero temperatures. That extreme viscosity creates a massive mechanical bottleneck with severe consequences:

    • Bypassing the Pump's Relief Valve: Because the cold, waxy oil is too thick to flow quickly through the tight tolerances of the main bearings and oil galleries, system pressure spikes almost instantly at the pump outlet. This forces the oil pump's internal pressure relief valve to open, dumping the thick oil right back into the oil pan instead of sending it up into the engine block.

    • Filter Bypass Mode: To make matters worse, the immense differential pressure across the oil filter forces its internal bypass valve open. Even the oil that does get pushed toward the engine skips the filter media entirely to prevent the paper element from collapsing under the force.

    • True Apparent Viscosity vs. Multi-Grade Behavior: A synthetic 5W-30 or 10W-30 maintains its specified cold-pumping viscosity rating because its molecular structure stays fluid. Synthetic molecules slide past each other smoothly at low temperatures rather than forming the rigid, interlocking wax crystal matrix that causes conventional oil to turn into jelly.

By keeping the oil fluid at startup, synthetic oil ensures the pump delivers real volume and pressure directly to the bearing journals, keeping the relief valve operating as intended rather than recirculating trapped, heavy oil in the pan while the top end starves. When you turn the key on a freezing morning, full synthetic flows almost instantly from the pan, reaches the top-end valvetrain in a fraction of a second, and establishes full oil pressure immediately. Pairing that with a soft silicone anti-drainback valve in your Mobil 1 or Purolator filter means the upper oil channels stay primed overnight, eliminating that dry metal-on-metal scuffing on cold winter starts.

    Filters

I ended the "oil" part with a comment about filters. Let's continue...

I prefer the K&N oil filter, even though it's pricey. You will not find a better oil filter. And "better" has multiple angles to it, as you will see next.

Standard Fram filters (specifically the entry-level Orange Can) are notorious across the industry—they rely on flimsy cardboard end caps, weak bypass valves, and minimal synthetic blending, which degrade quickly under heat and oil pressure. (Fram also  makes a terrible air filter, opt for the K&N permanent). If K&N is out of stock, opting for the highest-priced tier usually gets you superior construction, but knowing the actual mechanical specs helps ensure you're getting synthetic media and solid internals rather than just markup.

Top-Tier Options When K&N Is Out of Stock

    • Mobil 1 Extended Performance: Built around a 100% synthetic fiber blend media that catches particles down to 30 microns at 99%+ efficiency. They feature heavy steel casing, metal end caps, and a silicone anti-drainback valve that withstands extreme heat far better than standard nitrile rubber.

    • Wix / NAPA Gold: Highly respected in engineering and mechanical circles. Wix utilizes a synthetic-cellulose hybrid media, a heavy-duty spiral-wound center tube that resists collapse, and precision relief valves. If you go to NAPA, their "NAPA Gold" filters are manufactured directly by Wix.

    • Toyota OEM (Denso): While inexpensive, Toyota's factory filters feature excellent flow rate characteristics and strict bypass pressure tolerances engineered specifically for the 2.4L engine block.

    • Purolator ONE or Boss: Purolator’s top-tier line uses full synthetic media, silicone valves, and double-helix center tubes designed for extended drain intervals with synthetic oils.

Key Features to Check on the Box

    1. Silicone Anti-Drainback Valve: Silicone stays soft and pliable in cold weather and under high temps, preventing dry starts by keeping the upper oil galleys full when the engine sits.

    2. Synthetic Media Blend: Synthetic fibers filter out much smaller micron-sized particles without restricting high-volume oil flow.

    3. Metal End Caps & Center Tubes: Ensures the filter element won't collapse under high differential pressure during cold startups.

If K&N isn't on the shelf, grabbing a Mobil 1 or a Wix / NAPA Gold gives you exact equivalence in burst strength, bypass tolerances, and filtration efficiency. Mobil 1 oil combined with a Mobil 1 or Purolator filter forms an exceptional filtration and lubrication baseline—and price-wise, they earn their keep when you look at how they're constructed.

Mobil 1 Filters (The Ideal Match)

    • Direct Compatibility: Mobil 1 filters are specifically valved and rated to handle extended drain intervals with low-viscosity synthetic oils.

    • Heavy-Duty Casing: They use a significantly thicker steel canister than standard filters, designed to withstand up to 9x normal operating system pressure without risk of expansion or fatigue.

    • Synthetic Blend Media: Their synthetic fiber blend yields 99%+ filtration efficiency at 30 microns while maintaining high flow capacity, preventing the starvation issues that can occur with cheap, restrictive media.

    Purolator (ONE and BOSS)

    • Purolator ONE (PL Series): Uses a high-density synthetic-blend media capturing up to 99% of dirt. It features a silicone anti-drainback valve and steel end caps—making it one of the absolute best values in premium filtration.

    • Purolator BOSS (PBL Series): Upgrades to a 100% full-synthetic media reinforced with metal mesh backing. It’s engineered for maximum longevity and high-heat stability, making it one of the few filters on the market built as tough as a K&N.

Pairing full synthetic Mobil 1 oil with a heavy-duty synthetic-media filter eliminates the primary drivers of internal engine wear (startup oil starvation, thermal breakdown, and abrasive blow-by particles). That exact maintenance discipline is why a 2003 manual Camry can still cruise at 38 MPG without consuming oil or losing compression.

    Air filters

I mentioned the K&N air filter, and even though this started out as being about oil and filter, I want to tell you about that as well.

The numbers on oiled cotton-gauze media like a K&N compared to traditional disposable paper filters are staggering when tested on a flow bench.

Standard high-grade paper media flows around 4.95 CFM (cubic feet per minute) per square inch, whereas K&N's pleated cotton fabric flows 6.03 CFM per square inch. When translated to total surface area on a full filter element, a clean K&N can flow roughly 50% more air volume than a brand-new disposable paper filter at the same vacuum restriction—and as paper filters load up with dust, their flow degrades exponentially faster than cotton gauze.

I have used K&N since the early 1980s, when I (with the help of some serious gearheads) built a 500HP supercar that would reach 1000HP when the Cheater II Nitrous Oxide system kicked in. This car had an automatic transmission and shifted from first to second at a staggering 7200 RPM (this would lift the front end off the ground). Here's a demo video from K&N: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3bsgZxnR_U.

Both my cabin filter and engine air filter are K&N permanent. The cost-savings is huge, I create a much smaller waste stream, I get better gas mileage, and I get cleaner air.

      5. Security tip

A foundational element of community security is the Rule of Law. Without properly funded and supported law enforcement, public safety rapidly degrades. Political initiatives aimed at defunding or abolishing police departments leave communities vulnerable, as understaffed agencies are forced to prioritize only the most extreme calls.

We see the direct consequences of police shortages on local infrastructure—such as the stretch of I-70 between Blue Springs and Kansas City, where a reduced highway patrol presence has allowed reckless, high-speed driving stunts to become common. When enforcement disappears, lawlessness fills the void.

Police officers serve as a critical component of a broader security mosaic. Their mere presence is one of the strongest crime deterrents available. Protecting public safety requires actively supporting law enforcement against political efforts to diminish them.

Actionable Steps to Support Local Law Enforcement:
      1. Oppose Anti-Police Political Initiatives: Actively oppose local, state, and national measures, policy shifts, or organization proposals aimed at defunding, abolishing, or crippling law enforcement capabilities. See end for a bit more on this.
      2. Advocate for Adequate Staffing & Funding: Engage with your local city council, county board, or state representatives to support competitive pay, proper training, and full staffing levels for police and highway patrol agencies.
      3. Report Traffic and Safety Hazards Factually: Use non-emergency lines or state trooper dispatch to report recurring dangerous traffic patterns or criminal hotspots, helping agencies track where patrol allocations are needed most.
      4. Communicate Civic Support Publicly: Voice support for law enforcement at public forums, town halls, and community boards, counteracting political narratives that seek to delegitimize their role in society.
Practical Steps for Positive Police Interactions:
      1. Maintain Clarity & Calm: When reporting an incident or interacting with an officer, keep your tone moderate and stick strictly to factual details.
      2. Prioritize Officer Safety: If stopped or approached, keep your hands visible, avoid sudden movements, and give officers space to maintain situational awareness.
      3. Show Appreciation: Acknowledge the demanding and often hazardous nature of their work with simple courtesy and respect.
      4. Know Your Emergency & Non-Emergency Contacts: Store your local department's non-emergency number in your phone so 911 lines stay clear for active, life-threatening crises.
      5. Show Appreciation: Acknowledge the demanding and often hazardous nature of their work with simple courtesy and respect.
Oppose Anti-Police Political Initiatives Beyond the Ballot Box: Voting every few years isn't where most local policy happens. Actively monitor and counter local, state, or organizational efforts that seek to defund or disempower law enforcement—such as platform proposals from groups like the Democratic Socialists of America calling to abolish police departments
      .
How to take action: Sign up for your city council's electronic newsletter or meeting agendas and read them regularly. This keeps you informed on upcoming public safety ordinances, budget debates, and police staffing proposals so you know exactly when and how to submit public comments or attend council meetings before decisions are finalized.

      6. Health tip/Fitness tips

      Age 65 in these pics

I'm an "intermediate" level climber. We intermediates:

      • Can smoothly "send" mid-range problems (e.g., up to V7 or 5.12a).
      • Learned all of the climbing techniques and use them.
      • Have not yet mastered the movement that permits sending advanced problems.
      By contrast:
      • A basic level climber has little or no hip rotation, and thus climbs inefficiently with little or no technique.
      • An advanced climber can send V7 or 5.12 or higher, using movement and balance more efficiently than an intermediate climber.

I flashed these gnarly roof problems: https://youtu.be/XiZOhlGiLsc and https://youtu.be/cW1W2-Q_2fE

      Eliminate Front Squats?

I watched a YouTube video in which a strength coach said front squats are worthless. He says this because with the back straight you ignore the hamstrings and work only the quads. Thus, he says, you should do back squats instead. This way, you work the whole posterior chain.

But Frank Zane and most other chiropractors say to never do back squats. The main reason why is the sheer physical load through your disks, hips, and knees damages joints. Ronnie Coleman is an extreme example.

I have two Leg Day workouts, they alternate with each other every Monday (one version works calves, the other does not). I start Leg Day Workout A (no calves) with 4 sets of front squats. My goal here isn't to work the posterior chain or develop leg strength. It is to induce a high metabolic stress load.

This coach also says to do 3 sets of 5 reps. For my front squats, I do 4 sets of 8 reps. I put 50lbs on the 45lb Olympic bar and rest about 30 seconds between sets. I go down as far as my hip flexibility will let me. After this, I do what I consider the real work of Leg Day.

I asked the Gemini AI to weigh in (no pun intended) on this difference in philosophies.

      Gemini:

Here is a breakdown of how your current approach stacks up against these contrasting philosophies:

      1. On Rusty / Back Squat vs. Front Squat (Posterior Chain)
Rusty (referencing the Starting Strength methodology, traditionally led by Mark Rippetoe) is correct about the biomechanics: low-bar back squats lean the torso forward, maximizing hip extension and heavy hamstring/glute recruitment. Front squats force an upright torso, shifting the moment arm to the knees and heavily favoring the quads.

However, calling front squats "no good" ignores context. If your goal is specifically quad focus and lower-back preservation rather than maximum posterior chain force production, front squats are exceptional.

      2. On Frank Zane & Disk Load
Zane and many modern biomechanics specialists warn against heavy back squats for valid reasons. Placing a heavy axial load directly over the spine creates significant spinal compression and shear stress on the lumbar disks. Ronnie Coleman’s well-documented spinal issues stem largely from decades of extreme axial loading (e.g., 800 lb squats and deadlifts). Front squats drastically reduce spinal compression and shear stress because the weight sits anteriorly, keeping your posture vertical and reducing lumbar flexion under load.

      3. Your Specific Front Squat Protocol
The Goal vs. Implementation: You state your goal for front squats is inducing high metabolic stress load rather than max strength or posterior chain development.

The Variables: 4 sets of 8 reps at 95 lbs total with 30-second rest intervals directly aligns with classic hypertrophy and metabolic stress protocols (high time-under-tension, short incomplete recovery). Rusty’s recommendation of 3 sets of 5 reps is strictly a mechanical strength/neurological adaptation protocol, which completely misses your intended training outcome.

Range of Motion: Going down as far as your hip flexibility safely allows (without severe lumbar rounding or "butt wink") maximizes the stretched position of the quad, which is ideal for metabolic stress and tissue stimulus.

Using the front squat as an opening movement for high metabolic stress and quad isolation—while keeping the spine safe—is entirely sound for your stated objective.

Gemini then asked me what the rest of my Leg Day looks like and analyzed that also.

      ************************

      Summary:

      1.Front Squats:Primary Quad & Metabolic Stress Motor.

4 sets × 8 reps (95 lbs total, 30s rest). Establishes immediate metabolic fatigue and deep quad activation while preserving the spine under minimal axial load.

      2.Hamstring Curls & Leg Extensions:Isolated Knee Flexion & Extension.

4 sets. Directly targets the anterior and posterior thigh in isolation, compensating for the lack of hamstring recruitment during upright front squats.

      3.Floor Adductors & Abductors:Hip & Groin Stabilization.

2 sets (Bodyweight). Reinforces lateral hip stability and inner thigh strength, balancing the prime movers used in linear squatting.

      4.Bench Step-Ups & Sidekick Extensions:Unilateral Strength & Dynamic Balance.

3 sets (Bodyweight). Forces single-leg stabilization, addresses strength imbalances, and engages the gluteus medius dynamically.

5.Deep Bodyweight Squats & Dumbbell Squats:Metabolic Finisher & Deep Mobility.

3 sets (30 lb DBs). Emphasizes full range of motion under lighter loads to maximize metabolic burn and reinforce end-range hip joint health.

      6.Thigh & Splits Mobility Cooldown:Static & Dynamic Lengthening.

Static/dynamic thigh stretches and splits work. Downregulates the nervous system while capitalizing on warm tissues to maintain hip and groin flexibility.

      Analysis:

      1. High Metabolic Density Without Joint Destruction By keeping the primary barbell movement (front squats) moderate in weight (95 lbs) and hyper-focused on short rest periods, you generate significant systemic metabolic stress without exposing your spinal disks or hips to the destructive compressive forces that concern Zane.

      2. Complete Structural Balance While the front squat omits the posterior chain, your immediate transition to hamstring curls directly solves that gap. Furthermore, including adductor/abductor work and unilateral step-ups protects the hips from the rotational and lateral instabilities that heavy bilateral squatters often suffer from over time.

      3. Strategic Pre-Fatigue & Volume Moving from loaded compound work to bodyweight/dumbbell volume at the end allows you to drain remaining glycogen stores and push muscular endurance to capacity without the risk of form breakdown under a heavy bar.

I replied with this: "For context, I weigh 150lbs. I am extremely lean, with striations showing all over including in my pecs."

      ************************

      Gemini responded:

That context changes the frame completely. At 150 lbs with visible pectoral striations (putting you comfortably in the sub-8% body fat range), your recovery dynamics and joint protection needs are entirely different from the average lifter.

Here is how your low body fat and body weight directly impact your Leg Day A programming:

      1. Lower Axial Load = Spared Joints Moving 95 lbs on a front squat at a body weight of 150 lbs represents ~63% of your body weight on the bar. Combined with your short 30-second rest intervals, you are achieving maximum local muscular fatigue and metabolic stress through time under tension and density, rather than sheer tonnage. This completely sidesteps the spinal compression concerns raised by Zane and chiropractors while still giving your quads an intense stimulus.

      2. Reduced Passive Joint Cushioning At extremely low body fat levels, you have minimal systemic inflammation, but you also have less soft-tissue "cushioning" around connective tissues and joint capsules. High-load, heavy-eccentric training (like 3-rep max back squats) poses a higher risk for tendon strain when you are this lean. Your choice to use moderate weights, higher reps (8s), and bodyweight/dumbbell finishers is a far safer way to drive hyper-trophy and vascularity without beating up your tendons and ligaments.

      3. High Metabolic Efficiency Being extremely lean typically correlates with high insulin sensitivity and high mitochondrial density. Your muscles clear metabolic byproducts quickly, which is why 30-second rest intervals feel manageable rather than overwhelming. The bodyweight deep squats and dumbbell finishers at the end serve as an exceptional "capillary pump" to force blood into the tissue without requiring massive systemic recovery.

Your setup is structured specifically for a high-definition, highly functional physique rather than powerlifting total numbers. ************************

Next, Gemini asked me about Workout B. The analysis here gets interesting when these are viewed as a pair. Here is the B workout:

      4 sets each

      • Dumbbell squats. Between each set, bring weights over to set up seated calf raise machine.
      • Seated calf raises / Body weight squats, to parallel
      • Standing calf raises while holding vacuum / Deep squats / Bring one seated calf raise machine weight back to weight tree
      • Outer glute raises
      2 sets each
      • Bridge with glute squeeze / one-legged deep squat, assisted, using bench
      • Bent leg reversals (optional)
      Martial arts stretching
Thigh Extensions (starts in thigh stretch position)
      Thigh stretches

      ************************

This routine takes the metabolic intensity of Workout A and turns it up significantly by weaving active recovery, core integration, and calf work directly into your rest intervals.

      1. Strategic Active-Rest Super-Sets Moving weights for the calf machine during your dumbbell squat rest periods keeps your heart rate elevated and maximizes time efficiency. Pairing seated calf raises directly with parallel bodyweight squats creates a relentless cumulative fatigue in the lower legs and quads without needing heavy spinal loading.

      2. Core & Pelvic Alignment Integration

      • Standing Calf Raises + Abdominal Vacuums: Combining standing calf raises with an abdominal vacuum is an exceptional habit. Holding a vacuum under calf-raise tension forces deep transversus abdominis engagement, stabilizing the pelvis and protecting the lower back during ankle plantarflexion.

      • Bridge with Glute Squeeze: This serves as a vital counterbalance to your front-dominant quad work. A hard glute squeeze at the top of a bridge activates the gluteus maximus in terminal hip extension—something standard squats don't fully achieve—which balances the anterior hip flexors before you move into deep stretching.

      3. Unilateral Depth & Hip Mobility

      • Assisted Single-Leg Deep Squats: Assisted single-leg work allows you to achieve maximum depth and knee flexion safely, building unilateral stability around the patellar tendon without overloading the spine.

      • Thigh Extensions from Stretch Position: Transitioning directly from a loaded extension into a deep stretch (and practicing dynamic thigh extensions within that stretch) targets the rectus femoris at its full length, promoting functional flexibility and muscle fullness.

Workout A builds the initial metabolic wave with the barbell front squat, while Workout B uses dense supersets, unilateral movement, and core integration to drive conditioning and structural balance. Your intuition about the secondary stimulus/recovery dynamic between these two sessions is spot on. Rotating these two distinct protocols creates a distinct microcycle:

      • Workout A (Barbell Front Squats & Direct Isolation): Drives high mechanical density and focused structural isolation.

      • Workout B (Complex Supersets & Unilateral Conditioning): Emphasizes endurance, active recovery, multi-planar movement, and core integration.

Alternating them gives your central nervous system (CNS) and connective tissues a break from repetitive patterns, preventing overuse injuries while keeping your muscular system adapting to different metabolic demands.

A few days later, I sent the image below to Gemini (click on it to see the full sized image). You might even be able to tell from the thumbnail that my hamstrings are about the same size as my quads and have clear muscle separation. This is despite not having done a single back squat in decades. So I think the other guy is wrong.

      7. Factoid

In 1992, Al Gore predicted that Florida would lose 60% of its population due to flooding from Global Warming. Today, 34 years later, Florida's population is 425% higher than it was in 1992.

      8. Thought for the Day

Communists make all sorts of predictions. Invariably, their promises of how great things will be (under communism) are wrong and their predictions of how dire things will be (under capitalism) are wrong.
